This disc was recorded at Jay Howard Studio in Charlotte, North Carolina and produced by musical legend David Floyd. The disc features a soothing folk-pop style that showcases Alexander’s guitar and piano playing, romantic songwriting and strong vocal style. Synopsis
This album was recorded at Reflection Sound Studio in Charlotte, NC (where REM, Don Dixon and Marty Jones have recorded), produced by famed engineer-producer Steve Haigler and features a crisp country-rock sound. With nine original songs and one standout cover song, the classic Johnny Mercer song IRemember You, the record showcases Alexander’s vocal style and melodic songwriting talent. Featuring such gifted back up musicians as side man David Johnson, keyboard master Richard Putnam and electric guitarist and bassman Jaimie Hoover (of the Spongetones), this record sizzles with musicality. The recording received rave reviews from John Grooms, editor of Creative Loafing.
This disc is a compilation of demo recordings done by Matthew Alexander for record and publishing companies between 1967 and 1977 in New York, Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The disc features a host of outstanding musicians as well as song styles (folk; folk rock; country rock). Songs to listen for are the haunting story song Bring Your Friends Home, David, the activist song Reap What You Sow and the romantic ballads Love Is an Endless Road, Give It Away and When We Say Goodbye.
